The next day, we headed for Nyalam, which was the last stop in Tibet before crossing the border (on foot) into Nepal. We covered some distance by vehicle. On the way, we spotted a pair of wild donkeys. Needless to say, we had to stop for a photo op. Wonder where they were headed...
So that was my National Geographic moment with wildlife. Now for some landscape shots.
Nice paved road, which we rode on later.
A break during the ride. I don't know the name of the mountain I was pointing to. Nor do I remember why I was pointing to that one in particular.
On the ride to Nyalam, we stopped for lunch at this bucolic spot. There was a school (again, no idea where the kids lived) and they were having some sort of "fun day" outdoors. Like a sports day thing, but they were singing and dancing instead. Very spirited bunch.
Lunch stop.
Back on the road after lunch. We faced really strong headwinds this time (well, at least for me). I figured that the headwinds cut my speed by half. I even had to pedal downhill. For the 2nd time (or perhaps 3rd), I dismounted and walked instead. Not so much because I was tired, but mainly because I was frustrated with the wind. My walking speed was 6km/h uphill.
Nyalam was unexciting. Lots of commercial activity typical of border towns. So no pics.
